Born in Diaspora
This series within the Voices from the Palestinian Diaspora project aims to uplift the voices of Palestinians born and raised in the diaspora. Individuals interviewed for this section descend from ancestors who left Palestine at different times. They discuss being Palestinian in the countries they currently call home, their connection to the Palestinian cause and culture, their hopes for a Free Palestine, and their intense feelings about the current genocide in Gaza and overall horrific oppression in Palestine. They explain their continued connection to Palestine despite their lifelong diasporas.
Due to so many interviewees being born in diaspora, I have split the segment into two sections; the “First Generation,” which refers to individuals whose parents (and in some cases, siblings) were born in Palestine, and “The Descendants,” which refers to anyone whose parents were born in the diaspora.
